Margaret-Ann Armour Endowment Fund for Rural WISEST Students

Named for Founding Vice Chair, Dr. Margaret-Ann Armour, this fund helps promote diversity in the Summer Research Program by facilitating the participation of students who would otherwise be unable to attend.

This Endowment Fund was established to ensure that rural students who have a keen interest in science but may be in need of financial assistance are able to participate in the Summer Research Program.

The award is made on the basis of need to a student who lives further than commuting distance from Edmonton and is given to subsidise return travel to the University of Alberta and/or accommodation in Edmonton for the duration of the program.  Preference will be given to individuals with little opportunity to become familiar with university or college settings, but who are seriously considering attending the University of Alberta.

If funds are sufficient, this award will be offered to more than one participant. Alternately if there are no suitable students in any given year the money will be reinvested in order to support a greater number of students in the future.
