Our Response

WISEST directs part of its attention and resources to high-school students in the belief that meaningful exposure at this particular stage of their education can have a critical, positive impact for upcoming academic and career choices. 

The Summer Research Program provides valuable experience in hands-on, cutting-edge research and an opportunity to share questions and concerns about careers leading to decision-making roles in the sciences and engineering. This will lead to improving retention of women in these fields. 

Increasing the number of students attending the Summer Research Program will lead to further diversification of the workforce, especially by encouraging women to consider careers in less-traditional fields.
